Special Interests Behaving Badly

Why? Because This City Deserves Better Than Smear Campaigns

California Apartment Association

What Did They Do?

Created a smear campaign attacking the views of Diana Reddy, and spreading misleading information and outright lies. This violated their own Code of Conduct which can be read here: CAA Code of Conduct

Who They Support?

The CAA has sent $1000 to Giselle Hale, Jason Galisatus and Diane Howard.

Giselle Hale has since donated the contribution she recieved to a non-profit, after Redwood City Residents voiced their outrage. We are still waiting to hear from Jason Galisatus and Diane Howard. I would be happy to add their name to this list as this type of money has no place in Redwood City Politics

The Proof?

San Mateo County Association of Realtors

What Did They Do?

Created a email campaign which encouraged Realtors to influence the clients and customers that place their trust in them. Michael Verdone as Past Chair of the San Mateo County Association of Realtors has personally sent out these emails as well

Who They Support?

The San Mateo County Association of Realtors has sent $5000 to Giselle Hale.

The Proof?

Unknown Person

What Did They Do?

Vandalized Jason Galisatus' fenceline with a homophobic slur.

UPDATE: The tag on the fenceline had been there for a while and was NOT a targeted attack.

You can read about the findings of the investigation on The Palo Alto Daily Post

Who They Support?

This is being investigated as a hate crime. I add it here because it shoould be known that Redwood City as a whole does not support nor condone this type of cowardly behavior.

The Proof?

The Redwood City Police Department has gathered evidence and is investigating. You can read Jason's thoughts on the event here.
